Stash

Industry Overview

Stash is a direct-to-consumer platform built by gaming industry veterans to help developers sell directly to players without platform intermediaries. They had product clarity and founder credibility. But their brand wasn't earning trust at enterprise scale. Game studios needed to understand why this wasn't a small vendor tool—it was a fundamental shift in how studios own their economics.

The Challenge

Stash's existing brand was young—direct, playful, maker energy. Right for a startup. But as they moved upmarket to enterprise studios making serious revenue decisions, that identity created friction. A studio evaluating millions of dollars in revenue moving off-platform needed to see authority, precision, and trust. Yet they couldn't become generic. The risk: looking corporate enough to sell enterprise, but losing the irreverence that made them different.

Maturity without conformity. Authority without loss of character.

The Approach

We began by auditing what was working in their existing brand—the directness, the anti-establishment stance, the game-industry fluency. We evolved their identity with bifurcated applications: a more considered, enterprise-grade presence for B2B contexts and stakeholder communications; a bolder, more playful expression for player-facing and community moments. The logo and wordmark strengthened. The color system deepened. The typography moved from friendly to confident. Nothing was discarded—everything was elevated.

The Results

The evolved brand launched and immediately improved conversion metrics in enterprise conversations. Stash could now walk into studios with materials that matched their strategic weight without betraying their founding premise. The work also created a flexible system that let the brand play differently depending on context—serious when it needed to be, spirited when it should be. The system proved resilient through subsequent funding rounds and market expansion, proving that evolution done right compounds: the brand grows with the company.
