Nothing reaches a client without a second designer trying to break it first. Here's what our internal review actually looks like.
Reviews before the client sees anything
Every piece of client-facing work at Oxy goes through an internal review first. Not a formality, a real one, with the designer presenting and a second designer pushing back.
The point isn't to catch typos. It's to find the question the client is going to ask and answer it before the meeting. If the designer can't explain why a choice was made, the choice isn't ready.
What a good review sounds like
Short, specific, and a little uncomfortable. The best ones end with the designer changing one thing they were sure about. The worst ones end with everyone nodding.
If the designer can't explain why a choice was made, the choice isn't ready.
